On June 14th to 16th 2017 the DDR Forum and Expo took place in Brussels Expo - hall 11. Organized by the European Demolition Federation EDA, the forum and expo had as theme “Demolition, Decontamination & Recycling”.
The main goal of the forum and expo was to bring together the various actors in the chain (demolition contractors, experts, recycling companies, the European commission, institutional partners, ...) to exchange knowledge and concerns about the Circular Economy. A delegation of the HISER team took part in this event and HISER project was put on the conference program.
On Thursday June 15th, the Flemish Construction Confederation (represented by Liesbet Van Cauwenberghe) took part in the session on Construction and Demolition Waste Assessment. During this session the Tracimat system was presented: a quality assurance system for construction and demolition waste with the aim of ensuring the quality of the selectively collected demolition materials. The session was a success and a lot of positive feedback on the Tracimat story was given by the audience.
June 15th in the afternoon Technalia (represented by David Garcia) presented the HISER project during a session on Circular Economy Projects.
On Friday, 16 June, the European Commission hosted a number of sessions on developing a circular economy in Europe. Mister Gunther Wolf - DG Environment - referred in his presentation to the dangers of the circular economy, saying that new building materials pose a threat to future recycling as they tend to be the future "hazardous" materials. In order to secure the circular thinking on construction and demolition waste, he referrend to the Tracimat system as a possible solution.
Not only the conference program made the event, the other main part of the event were the exhibitors, mainly producers of demolition tools and vehicles. They showed their machines, products and services to the contractors and potential clients that attended the DDR Forum & Expo 2017.
